ولقدْ وقفْت على ديارِهمُ ... وطلولُها بيد البلـــى نهْبُ
وبكيْتُ حتى ضجّ من لغبٍ... نِضوي وعجّ بعذليَ الرّكبُ
وتلفتّتْ عيني فمُذ خفيتْ ... عنّي الطّلولُ تلفّتَ القلــبُ

I stopped at their deserted dwelling
That has turned into sheer dilapidated ruins
And so passionately lamented
That my commotion startled my camel
And my travel companions acridly censured me
ِAs we pressed on
I longingly gazed at the remains of the camp
And when my eyes could discern it no more
My heart fondly and eagerly turned its attention to it
